PARTNER OF THE WEEK: FHIDO

Future Hopes Integrated Development Organization (FHIDO), formerly known as Arada Child and Charitable Society, is an NGO working towards a self-sufficient generation in Ethiopia by adopting a sustainable approach. Its vision is to see responsible, self-reliant and empowered citizens across the country.

FHIDO is implementing ‘holistic child development’ focused projects in partnership with ChildFund Ethiopia and reaches more than 4,000 Deprived, Excluded and Vulnerable (DEV) children and their 5,000 siblings and family members in slum areas. The organisation has started operating in three core programmatic areas: Early Childhood Development (ECD), Basic Education and Youth Development.

In order to strengthen their work, FHIDO has introduced the Aflatoun method to different stakeholders and started Aflatoun classes, forming clubs and practising saving systems. To this end, FHIDO provided stationary materials, furniture and technical and financial support for target school and clubs. To date, FHIDO has provided Aflatoun training to more than 200 ECD facilitators and primary and secondary school teachers. Currently, the Aflatoun programme is implemented in kindergarten (ECD) centres, primary and high schools, reaching more than 7,000 children.
