Dutch NGO, Aflatoun International recognised for innovation and social impact

AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS, 23 October, 2019 – Aflatoun International is pleased to announce that it has been selected as a Vanguard member of the Million Lives Club, an initiative that celebrates innovators and social entrepreneurs who are scaling impact to improve the lives of those living on less than $5 a day.

Aflatoun creates financial and social curriculum for children ages 2-24 years, reaching more than 8 million children around the world. Aflatoun’s model focuses on offering low cost, high impact solutions and its curriculum is delivered by a dedicated network of local Aflatoun partners.

“We’re honoured that we’ve been selected as a Vanguard member of the Million Lives Club. Innovation and scalability are in our organisation’s DNA and it is exciting to be a part of a network that has the same focus. Our biggest strength is our curriculum’s flexibility to adapt to the local needs of the girls and boys, while offering a variety of lessons on life skills, sexual and reproductive health and rights, and financial empowerment,” said Roeland Monasch, CEO, Aflatoun International.

The Million Lives Club seeks to nurture innovation ecosystems by recognising innovators and social entrepreneurs whose innovations have scaled to serve 1 million customers, or are rapidly approaching this milestone. The Million Lives Club is an initiative inspired by members of the International Development Innovation Alliance (IDIA) and supported by a growing partnership of leading development organisations.
