Partner of the Week: SOCWE

The Somali Centre for Women Empowerment (SOCWE) was established in 2002, and works to empower women, youth, single mothers, and people with disabilities- particularly from minority and internally displaced communities. They have implemented over 31 projects imparting crucial knowledge, skills training, and equal opportunities for job creation. They also work to raise awareness of gender issues, the importance of gender rights and independence.

Our Partnership

SOCWE is one of Aflatoun International’s newest partners, and joined our network in 2020. They have yet to implement an Aflatoun Programmes, but they have been working in social and financial education for many years and regularly train underprivileged youth in vocational skills to increase their employability. They look forward to implementing all the curriculums, in particular AflaYouth and the Child Protection supplement.
