Aflatoun selected for 2022 Global Collection of 100 inspiring Innovations by HundrED

Aflatoun International has been selected as one of the most impactful and scalable innovations in the world by the global education non-profit HundrED for their 2022 Global Collection. We are proud to be selected for the second consecutive year and see our social and financial education programmes being recognised for their impact by the international education community.

To compile this year’s Global Collection, HundrED has selected 100 inspiring innovations that are changing the face of education in the post-COVID world. The report finds that teacher professional development and enhancing social and emotional learning are the top trends in education innovation. Over 2,600 innovations were submitted, and the shortlisted ones were reviewed by 120 Academy Members consisting of academics, educators, innovators, funders, and leaders from over 50 countries.  The shortlist was reviewed by the Academy based on their criteria of impact and scalability and then evaluated by HundrED’s Research Team to make the final Global Collection.

“This year has shown us the value in enhancing social-emotional learning, supporting teacher professional development, engaging parents in education and teaching 21st-century skills to ensure students can adapt to a constantly changing society. We have seen that all these factors must be embedded in holistic education systems with child-centred approaches that use assessment for learning,”  Crystal Green, Head of Research at HundrED said.

For the 2022 Global Collection, HundrED identified a few common threads amongst the selected innovations: teacher professional development, communities & learning environments, 21st-century skills, educational equity, access & inclusion.

“The past two years have been extremely challenging for our network. The COVID-19 pandemic became a huge hindrance to children’s education across the world, exacerbating inequalities, such as, for example, access to technology among students. However, our partner network displayed incredible resilience and innovation in the face of such challenges and worked tirelessly to ensure that children and youth continued to receive crucial-for-21st-century social and financial education. To best support our partners, and respond to the organisation and teachers’ needs, we worked to provide further digital training and resources for trainers, teachers, and students, including our newly developed course on digital literacy for teachers. We are very proud that these efforts have been recognised by HundrED,” our CEO, Roeland Monasch said.
