Aflatoun International is honoured to have been recognised as the winner of not one, but two prestigious MAIA Awards this year! Additionally, we received a special commendation in the third category as well!
21 expert judges received almost 200 entries from 35 countries then they had filtered this down to 108 finalists. The competition was intense. MAIA Awards judges commented especially on our unwavering commitment to financial education and social empowerment for children and young people across the globe.
Receiving these accolades is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and passion of our entire team and our invaluable partners!
This year we received the awards in two categories:
1. Best Crypto Currency or Blockchain Education Project (we are the first ever awarded winner here!) with our project of “Crypto Currency Curriculum”, delivered thanks to our amazing partners Fundación Gloria Kriete, Center for Education and Development, Stepping Stones International and Orca!
The Cryptocurrency and Block Chain Technology Curriculum was developed and tested in 2022/2023. The curriculum introduces digital currencies, how they work, and their impact on the world by defining key concepts such as blockchain, cryptocurrency and decentralized finance. With the programme, participants acquire knowledge, skills and practical experiences that will allow them to make informed decisions regarding these new technologies. The 10-session, facilitator-led curriculum includes two packages targeting two age groups: 13-17 and 18-21. They are all digital resources in 3 languages: English, Spanish and Vietnamese. The resources include infographics, videos and quizzes to support face-to-face training.
2. Best Entreneurship Education Project – with our Entrepreneurial Mindset Development Program, deliveredthanks to an innovative partnership of the State Government of Andhra Pradesh and Udhyam Learning Foundation, Reap Benefit and MakerGhat.
This is a truly unique and innovative program in Andhra Pradesh which covered in 2023 more than 300,000 children across 5075 government schools. The training program aims to develop Life Skills and entrepreneurial mindsets and help children identify problems which are prevalent in their own neighbourhoods and come up with practical, innovative and implementable solutions for them, on their own.
