From 1 to 14 July 2024, the Martyria Foundation for Culture and Development organised the AflaTot Summer Camp in Egypt. To launch the AflaTot programme, Martyria held a two-week summer camp for kindergarten students.

In the AflaTot Curriculum three to six year-olds gather the building blocks of social and financial literacy before they reach primary school. Much of what they know about saving, spending and using resources is based on their daily routine.
Even before monetary concepts are learned, simple concepts such as making full use of available resources, i.e. ‘finishing one’s food’ or ‘buying only necessities’, are promoted.

The camp ran for nine days over two weeks and incorporated the AflaTot curriculum into a comprehensive full-day programme. Martyria made the curriculum enjoyable and easy to understand through various crafts, games, videos, and other engaging activities, including cooking. Each day of the camp was dedicated to a specific topic and theme, providing a diverse and enriching experience for the children.

Martyria’s successful implementation of the AflaTot programme demonstrates the potential for educational enrichment in early childhood development. The next phase involves extending this beneficial programme to more institutions, thereby broadening its positive impact!
