Nationale Postcode Loterij Extends Partnership with Aflatoun International for Five More Years!

Since 2010, Aflatoun has received an annual contribution of €500,000 from NPL, which has been crucial in empowering children and youth through our financial education and social development programs. These funds have supported the creation and implementation of our innovative educational resources—including the latest refresh and redesign of our AflaToun and AflaTeen curricula—delivered through our esteemed partners to empower young people globally.

Thanks to the continued support of NPL and its dedicated participants, Aflatoun reaches millions of vulnerable children—from Roma children in Slovenia and AIDS orphans in Malawi, to internally displaced children in Syria, vulnerable girls in the favelas of Brazil, and street children in India—equipping them with the essential social and financial skills they need for a brighter future.

Following a recent evaluation, the Nationale Postcode Loterij has declared its further commitment to Aflatoun, highlighting the impactful results of our collaboration. Marieke Rodenhuis, Head of Charities at the Postcode Lottery, stated, “We are very proud that the Postcode Lottery, thanks to its participants, will continue to support Aflatoun for the next 5 years.”

“We are incredibly grateful for the continued support from the Nationale Postcode Loterij and its participants. This partnership not only empowers us to enhance our educational programmes but also enables us to reach even more children and youth worldwide. Together, we are making a difference in their lives, equipping them with the skills they need to develop in a complex world. We look forward to the next five years of collaboration and the positive impact we will create together.” — said
Roeland Monasch, CEO at Aflatoun International.

The Nationale Postcode Loterij, founded in 1989, is dedicated to supporting charities that work towards creating a just, healthy, and green world. With over 3 million participants, the lottery raises substantial funds for charitable causes while fostering a sense of community. Each participant’s postcode serves as their ticket number, promoting the idea of winning together with neighbors. The lottery supports 146 charitable organizations annually, ensuring that at least 40 percent of ticket prices go directly to these causes. Since its inception, the Nationale Postcode Loterij has donated an impressive €8 billion to benefit people and nature. As part of the Postcode Lottery Group, which operates in five countries, it is the third-largest private donor to charities worldwide. In 2023, the organization achieved a record donation amount of over €900 million to charities and cultural partners, demonstrating its unwavering commitment to social impact.

This continued partnership will further enhance Aflatoun’s ability to provide essential financial education, empowering young people to become responsible and active citizens in their communities.
