Looking Ahead to 2025: Aflatoun’s contribution during NetWorks2024 event by Human Safety Net

In the first week of November Aflatou participated in the workshop, “Designing Map and Transformative Journey, held at The Home of The Human Safety Net in Venice. The Human Safety Net is a global movement of people helping people, with a mission to unlock the potential of those living in vulnerable circumstances so they can transform the lives of their families and communities. Its programmes focus on supporting families with young children and integrating refugees through work by harnessing the strengths of both non-profit organizations and the private sector across Europe, Asia, and South America.

The workshop session focused on strengthening parents’ autonomy and enhancing child development through the Financial Literacy Module (FLM) for Parents.

Our Co-CEO Lama Yazbeck  and Project Manager Marina Amoah presented the evolution of this ongoing program, currently implemented in 6 countries.

During the workshop they presented the data from India, Spain, and Italy that showed remarkable progress:

  • 24% increase in parents’ ability to track their income;
  • 34% improvement in understanding how saving can support their family’s future;
  • 34% boost in parents’ commitment to financial planning for their children’s future.

At the workshop’s conclusion, participants discussed integrating the FLM into the user journey at family centres in their respective countries.

Looking Ahead to 2025 we’re excited to announce that 10 additional countries will implement the financial literacy programme for parents next year, enabling our programme to expand their reach to support 8,500 parents and caregivers!

Together, we’re building stronger foundations for young children’s futures through financial literacy and essential life skills.
