The New Equitable and Innovative Educational Association (NEIEA) has been operating as an official nonprofit organisation in India since 2022. Through NEIEA, mentors reach students at more than 70 institutions. Using a hybrid model of education, they combine online with onsite learning, teaching a range of courses in English, mathematics and technical skills.
NEIEA has a particular focus on providing quality education to promote equity and inclusivity. By providing entrepreneurial training and counselling for girls, they hope to address the current gender disparities in education. Furthermore, they provide education for children who experience homelessness, are orphaned or live in slums. By making education accessible to children in vulnerable circumstances, they “aim to break the cycle of poverty, uphold the children’s basic rights, and contribute to community development”.

Discourse-Oriented Pedagogy
NEIEA proposes an alternative education model that focuses on experience-based learning rather than information transmission. Discourse-Oriented Pedagogy (DOP) involves moving towards learner-centred facilitation, valuing different perspectives both within and outside the classroom, and understanding learning as a lifelong process that extends beyond traditional educational spaces.
Our Partnership
NEIEA joined Aflatoun as a partner in 2024, and as such is a new addition to the network. Currently, they are in the beginning stages of learning how to implement Aflatoun curricula and have been participating in various training sessions as part of this process. NEIEA has already initiated programmes aimed at the economic empowerment of children and, through Aflatoun, will have new tools to expand their efforts in providing Social and Financial Education.

Math Education as a path to Economic Independence
As part of NEIEA’s mission to empower marginalised children through education, they highlight the importance of learning mathematics. By providing mathematics education, they aim to equip children and young people with tools for economic empowerment. Proficiency in mathematics can not only facilitate access to job opportunities but also help individuals assess their own financial situations. Through mathematics education, innovation, problem-solving, digital literacy, and critical thinking skills are nurtured, enabling children and young people to manage both their financial and their social wellbeing.
Voices From our learners, teachers and parents
During Global Money Week 2025, students, teachers and parents came together to share with us the impact that Social and Financial Education has had on them; and to talk about some of the activities that they implement to put into practice what they have learnt.
