The world is rapidly evolving, and young people need more than traditional academic knowledge to grow in an increasingly complex and interconnected global landscape. We are proud to announce a transformative partnership between Aflatoun International and BAC Education Group Malaysia – a collaboration that promises to socially and economically empower the next generation of innovative leaders across Malaysia and beyond.
A shared vision for educational transformation
This partnership brings together two organisations united by a common commitment to empowering children and young people as agents of change in their own lives for a more equitable world. BAC Education Group, founded in 1991 with a vision of transforming lives through education, has grown to become Malaysia’s leading and largest private higher education group. Under the visionary leadership of Mr. Raja Singham, Founder and Managing Director, BAC has consistently demonstrated its dedication to nurturing global graduates with skills that transcend cultures and geographic borders.
Mr. Raja Singham, recognised as “Education Man of the Year” by the Brand Laureate, shares Aflatoun’s belief in the transformative power of education. His ambitious vision to “TRANSFORM A MILLION LIVES THROUGH KNOWLEDGE” aligns perfectly with Aflatoun’s mission to reach every child and young person worldwide with high-quality social and financial education.
The power of “LEARN ifferent” meets social and financial education
BAC Education Group’s innovative “LEARN Different” principle – encompassing Learn, Work, Play, and Impact – provides the perfect foundation for integrating Aflatoun’s proven social and financial education curricula. Through this partnership, students across BAC’s enriched ecosystem of five colleges will gain access to world-class social and financial literacy programmes that prepare them not just to get by, but to thrive in the future of work.
Introducing the “Aflatoun Warrior” programme
As part of this exciting collaboration, BAC Education Group is preparing to launch the innovative “Aflatoun Warrior” programme – an initiative designed to create champions of social and financial education who will drive positive change within their communities and beyond. This programme represents a new frontier in educational excellence, combining Aflatoun’s learner-centered and active learning pedagogies with BAC’s commitment to holistic development.
Mr.Raja Singham explained, “We are looking forward to how we can leverage of each other’s strengths, with us being on the ground in Malaysia and having our foothold here. “
They are planning to integrate Aflatoun curriculum into their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes to benefit vulnerable populations, including refugees enrolled at BAC University and orphans and individuals with disabilities.
This integration will enhance their free education and community outreach initiatives. Additionally, they will develop contextualized financial literacy content and educational videos through BACflix, their free and open-access online platform, specifically designed to reach communities from disadvantaged socioeconomic backgrounds and promote their social and economic empowerment.
Transforming education across four key areas
This comprehensive partnership will focus on four strategic areas of collaboration:
1. Regional advocacy and best practice exchange. Together, we will develop powerful advocacy activities that promote social and financial education across Malaysia and the broader Asian region. This includes plans to host significant conferences and events that will position Malaysia as a regional hub for social and financial education excellence, fostering the exchange of best practices and positive experiences among educators, policymakers, and practitioners.
2. Future-ready curriculum development. We will collaborate to develop cutting-edge curricular content and courses that focus on social and financial literacy, employability skills, and entrepreneurship knowledge. These programmes will empower BAC students to put cross-discipline ideas into action, developing financial and social enterprise projects that equip them with real-world business experience while creating positive community impact.
3. Early Childhood Education innovation. Recognising that the early years offer unique opportunities to shape development, we will introduce Aflatoun’s educational materials to faculty and students in BAC’s Early Childhood Education programmes. This initiative will expand professional horizons and encourage ground-breaking research in the field of child social and financial education.
4. Faculty excellence through Active Learning. BAC’s faculty members will benefit from continuous professional development training that incorporates Aflatoun’s proven learner-centered and active learning pedagogies. This will enrich their professional practice and enhance teaching strategies, ultimately benefiting thousands of students across all programmes.
A network effect for maximum impact
This partnership will use the strength of both organisations’ extensive networks. BAC Education Group’s ecosystem of over 30 entities, combined with Aflatoun International’s presence in 110+ countries reaching over 35 million children and young people, creates unprecedented opportunities for scale and impact.
BAC’s pioneering partnerships with global platforms like Coursera, LinkedIn Learning, and Skillshare, along with their groundbreaking BACFlix initiative – Malaysia’s largest free education portal supported by the Ministry of Education – provide innovative channels for delivering Aflatoun’s transformative curricula to even broader audiences.
Building agents of change for tomorrow
Through this partnership, we are not just delivering education – we are cultivating a generation of “Aflatoun Warriors” who will carry forward the mission of positive social and economic transformation.
Mr. Raja Singham’s vision to impact 10 million lives by 2030 combined with Aflatoun’s global reach creates a powerful multiplier effect that will resonate far beyond Malaysia’s borders.
The future belongs to young people who can navigate complexity, drive innovation, and create positive change. Through this groundbreaking partnership between Aflatoun International and BAC Education Group, we are ensuring that Malaysia’s youth – and young people across the region – have the social and financial skills they need not just to participate in that future, but to lead it.
