Opening the Global Programmes Hub in Nairobi we are expanding our regional presence!

[Nairobi, – 24th of October, 2025] – Aflatoun International stands at an important juncture in it’s history – an organisation deeply committed to empowering children and young people around the world through social and financial education. We just moved closer to our regions to empower more children in need – and therefore decided to grow our regional presence.

The strategic advantages of this organisational change are clear and compelling. Key elements driving this change are access to our 400+ partners and more possibilities to empower children in need.
In our strategy for 2022-2026, we clearly stated that we want to grow our network. And this is what we are committed to.

“Aflatoun is transitioning from a Functional to a Geographical Organisation. This ensures that our work centres around the partner network and deployment of quality curricula, and fulfills Aflatoun’s aspirations of being local, keeping scale, and focus on growth,” says Roeland Monasch, CEO of Aflatoun International.

The shift should also further strengthen technical support and capacity-building for the regions. We hope that it will also facilitate engagement with governments on national integration and facilitate advocacy and fundraising efforts at the regional level,” – added Roeland Monasch.

There are a number of strategic advantages of this organisational change but the top three elements driving this change are: close access to the partners; proximity to key stakeholders, and the expansion of our network as outlined in our 2022-2026 strategy.

  • Close access to local Partners: strengthening our connections with our network partners on the ground. By moving closer, we aim to better understand local needs and tailor our content and tools more effectively. This closer relationship should further strengthen collaborations and enhance the impact of our initiatives.
  • Proximity to key stakeholders: being closer to regional & national governmental bodies, educational institutions, and other key stakeholders will make us even more effective in advocating for our mission. This proximity will allow us to grow stronger relationships and facilitate more efficient communication, ensuring that we can work together seamlessly to promote Social and Financial education.
  • Network growth: positioning ourselves will enable us to connect with more partners and supporters, thereby expanding our resources and capabilities. This growth will allow us to bring Aflatoun’s innovative programmes to more children and young people in the region.

We believe that this strategic move will enhance our ability to support local organizations in delivering high-quality, impactful programmes.

Our organisational structure will be more streamlined and focused, enabling us to respond more swiftly to the needs of our partners and the communities we serve. We will have additional points of contact in regions to provide localized support and ensure that our programs are aligned with local contexts and requirements.
This change marks a new chapter in our journey, one that promises to bring us closer to our shared goals and grow our movement and collective impact.

Join the movement and make a difference with Aflatoun!

Together, we are empowering children and young people with the skills, confidence, and resilience they need to thrive and lead in a rapidly changing world.
