Led by the Directorate General of Vocational Education, Aflatoun International and partners have taken an important step towards integrating Social and Financial Education into Indonesia’s TVET system.
The first in-person Training of Trainers on Social and Financial Literacy for vocational teachers was recently completed in South Tangerang, with 20 teachers from Jakarta, Depok and Tangerang participating. The training built on earlier work, including a virtual training for 400 teachers, the translation and contextualisation of materials with Yayasan Amal Khair Yasmin, and curriculum alignment with Indonesia’s national TVET system.
Based on Aflatoun’s AflaYouth approach, the module combines social skills, financial capabilities, entrepreneurship and job readiness, helping young people prepare for work and life.
The initiative is being implemented by the Directorate General of Vocational Education, in collaboration with Yayasan Amal Khair Yasmin and Aflatoun International, with support from Fondation Botnar. With 5 million vocational students across Indonesia, the potential for scale is significant.
