In North Lebanon’s Minieh-Denniyeh district, young people are finding space to explore their ideas, build practical skills and believe in their own potential.
Through the AflaYouth programme, The Lebanese Association for Development Initiative (LAD) is supporting young people to strengthen their confidence, financial knowledge and entrepreneurial thinking. The work comes at an important time, as many young people face difficult economic conditions and limited opportunities.
LAD is responding through a community-led approach. Its trainers and volunteers create welcoming learning spaces where young people can share experiences, learn from one another and turn ideas into action.
During 2026, LAD has trained local facilitators and volunteers to deliver interactive AflaYouth sessions. Young people have taken part in participatory activities that build life skills, financial literacy and entrepreneurship skills. They are learning how to plan, understand their communities’ needs and develop ideas that could become real initiatives.
For LAD, this is about more than training. It is about helping young people see themselves as active contributors to their communities.
One participant shared:
“I learned that success is not just about having an idea, but about planning, understanding the market, and believing in my ability to turn my idea into a real initiative that serves my community.”
This reflection captures the change LAD is helping to create. Young people are not only gaining knowledge. They are growing in confidence, learning how to make informed choices and seeing new possibilities for their futures.
What makes LAD’s work especially meaningful is the commitment behind it. The programme is driven fully by volunteers who give their time, energy and expertise because they believe in young people’s right to learn, grow and lead.
Their work is also strengthening local connections. By bringing together trainers, volunteers and young people, LAD is building a growing network of community members who can support one another and create positive change from within.
Aflatoun International is proud to work alongside LAD as it expands opportunities for young people across Lebanon. We thank the LAD team, trainers and volunteers for their dedication, care and belief in the next generation.
Together, we are helping young people turn potential into possibility.
