33 MENA partners convene to shape the region’s next chapter

On 30 June 2026, Aflatoun International brought together representatives from 33 partner organisations across eight countries for the MENA Regional Virtual Consultative Meeting.

The online gathering created space to celebrate progress, strengthen collaboration and look ahead to the next phase of work across the region.

Fady Khoury, Aflatoun International’s MENA Representative on the Global Board, opened the meeting with updates from the Board. He also shared how partners, staff, senior management and Board members worldwide are contributing to the development of Aflatoun International’s 2027–2030 Strategic Plan.

Celebrating progress

The meeting highlighted several achievements from the first half of 2026.

Aflatoun welcomed new partners to the MENA network, expanding opportunities to reach more children and young people with social, financial and entrepreneurial education.

More than 60 trainers from 21 partner organisations also completed training on the updated AflaYouth curriculum. The curriculum supports young people to build practical skills for life, work, financial decision-making and entrepreneurship.

Partners also strengthened cooperation through National Working Groups and regional learning initiatives. These spaces help organisations exchange experiences, learn from one another and explore ways to respond to local needs.

Regional work recognised globally

The meeting also reflected on recent international recognition for Aflatoun International and its partners.

Aflatoun received the Special International Award at the Grands Prix de l’Éducation Financière 2026 in Paris.

The Social and Financial Education for Adolescents in Conflict Zones project was also recognised at the Money Awareness and Inclusion Awards 2026. The project is implemented with partners in Palestine, Syria and Yemen.

These recognitions reflect the commitment of partners working in complex settings to ensure young people can access skills, knowledge and opportunities for their futures.

Looking ahead

The meeting introduced a programme of regional activities planned for the second half of 2026.

Partners reaffirmed their shared commitment to helping children and young people become more confident, informed and prepared to shape their own lives.

Thank you to every partner who continues to contribute time, ideas and energy to the MENA network. Together, we are building stronger connections across the region and creating more opportunities for the next generation.
