MENA educators strengthen Aflatoun learning

40 participants from 17 organisations join regional training to strengthen the delivery of social and financial education.

Aflatoun International brought together 40 participants from 17 organisations across Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Sudan and Yemen for a four-day online Training of Trainers on the Updated Aflatoun Curriculum, held from 19–22 October 2026.

The training aimed to strengthen the capacity of educators and partner organisations to deliver engaging, inclusive and relevant social and financial education to children and young people across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

Bringing learning to life

Throughout the four days, participants explored the updated Aflatoun Curriculum, with a focus on child-centred learning, practical facilitation techniques and adapting educational activities to different learning needs.

The sessions encouraged participants to move beyond traditional teaching approaches and explore ways to make learning more interactive and meaningful.

Through practical exercises and shared experiences, participants strengthened their understanding of how to engage children in activities that encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration and informed decision-making.

These approaches reflect Aflatoun’s wider educational philosophy: children learn best when they actively participate, explore ideas and apply what they learn to everyday situations.

Education that responds to local needs

A key focus of the training was ensuring that social and financial education remains relevant to the diverse communities where Aflatoun partners work.

While children across the region may face different circumstances, they all benefit from opportunities to understand their rights, develop confidence, make responsible decisions and gain practical life skills.

Aflatoun’s educational approach allows partners to adapt learning activities to their local contexts while maintaining the core principles of social and financial education.

For participants, the training offered an opportunity to explore how these principles can be translated into activities that reflect children’s experiences and learning needs.

Strengthening partnerships across MENA

Beyond the curriculum, the training created an opportunity for organisations across the region to connect, exchange experiences and learn from one another.

By bringing together 17 organisations, the initiative helped strengthen regional collaboration and provided participants with practical tools they can apply in their educational programmes.

The training also contributes to Aflatoun’s wider efforts to strengthen the capacity of its partner network, supporting the delivery of quality social and financial education through locally relevant approaches.

Building on shared commitment

Aflatoun International extends its appreciation to all participating organisations and trainers for their active engagement and commitment throughout the sessions.

Special thanks go to Sarah Ghazal, an education specialist and certified trainer, for her valuable contribution to the training.

As partners take these lessons forward, the focus remains on translating the knowledge gained into meaningful learning experiences for children and young people.

By investing in educators and strengthening regional partnerships, Aflatoun International continues to support a future where more children have the skills, confidence and opportunities to shape their own lives and contribute positively to their communities.
