MasterPeace is a grassroots non-profit organisation actively engaging people around the world in peacebuilding actions. Through music, sports, arts and dialogue, MasterPeace will help lead the way to a more sustainable world with less (armed) conflict. To that end, MasterPeace offers a platform for a large community called Nelsons; social entrepreneurs, volunteers, bloggers, journalists, media, musicians, businesses and active citizens to connect together and support with actions.
Every year MasterPeace organises a promotional walk in Maasai-land in Kenya. There are around 10 thousand young people living along this route in the Kajiado region. They and their teachers have shown to have an enormous drive to develop themselves. MasterPeace wants to encourage and facilitate that. They stirred the interest of the teachers for the concept of social and financial education.
Currently, they are exploring the possibilities of implementing the Aflatoun Life Skills and Financial Education for Peace curriculum. Over the next few years, the organisation is interested in implementing this Peacebuilding programme in many of the 40 countries where the organisation is active. According to MasterPeace, they prefer this Aflatoun curriculum as it has a focus on talent development and dialogue. Maasai youth could learn social and financial skills, for example learning to bridge cultural differences.
MasterPeace was awarded the ‘Innovation In Peace Building’ award on behalf of the United Nations Correspondents Association (UNCA) in 2013.
