Financial Education Programme for Parents

Financial Education Programme for Parents

We firmly believe in the ongoing importance of social and financial education for children and youth globally. Aflatoun’s core strengths lie in education resources and training, serving as a strong foundation for advancing crucial 21st-century skills like green and digital skills, expanding into digital education, and providing educational support for parents as well.

In recent years, the value of financial education for parents and caregivers has become increasingly evident, highlighted by initiatives from both The Human Safety Net and Aflatoun. Financial literacy equips parents with the knowledge to effectively manage their resources, ensuring stability even in unpredictable circumstances. The benefits extend beyond personal finance, impacting employability and entrepreneurial skills, ultimately enhancing the well-being of learners and their families. Over time, financial education contributes to economic and social empowerment, aiding in poverty reduction and food security efforts. With economic fluctuations being inevitable, the ability to navigate these changes becomes essential to mitigate adverse consequences.

Therefore, we partnered with The Human Safety Net, to adapt educational content and develop M&E tools and training, aiming to strengthen parents’ ability to build long-term projects for their children’s future; enhance parents’ capacity to identify priorities in the family budget; promote financial education in parenting by involving new local actors through THSN community; and early exposure to financial literacy for children.

The project, launched in June 2023, is being implemented in Italy, Spain, France, Germany and India.
