We are two weeks away from the 1st African Union Pan-African Conference on Girls and Women’s Education (AU-PANCOGEd1). The conference will bring together all key voices on girls and women’s education on the continent to deliberate strategic methods of positioning equitable access to quality education and skills development for girls and women during the AU Theme of the year 2024 and beyond. The Conference is scheduled to take place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from July 02 – 05, 2024 at the African Union Commission Headquarters. The 4-day gathering will take place under the theme, “Prioritising Girls and Women’s Education: A Strategy for increased access to inclusive, lifelong, quality, and relevant learning in Africa.”
Delegates will, amongst other things, collectively evaluate the status of girls and women’s education in Africa, galvanize support for financing girls’ education, and strengthen advocacy toward high-level adoption of gender transformative policies and frameworks.
This hybrid event is organized by the AUC Department of Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation (ESTI), the African Union CIEFFA. This is in collaboration with UN Agencies, AU Organs and AUC departments, development partners, organizations promoting girls and women’s education, youth champions on girls’ education. It holds in recognition of 2024 as the African Union Year of Education.
