Young people from Aflatoun’s partner network across Latin America and the Caribbean will come together online from 3 to 5 November 2026 for Aflatalks, a regional forum created by and for young people.
Organised by the Aflatoun International Regional Committee for Latin America and the Caribbean, this year’s forum will explore the theme “Jóvenes que inspiran” (“Young people who inspire”). The programme will connect experiences of community action with the decisions and skills that help young people put their ideas into practice.
The annual initiative brings together more than 200 young people from the region each year. It offers a space to meet peers, share experiences and learn about different ways of contributing to their communities.
Ideas and impact
On Tuesday 3 November, Abigail Napsuciale Heredia will lead a session on turning ideas into impact, including how to take the first step without having all the answers.
Originally from Mexico, Abigail is a co-founder and director of investments at Atta Impact Capital. Drawing on her journey from science to entrepreneurship and impact investing, she will discuss taking risks, learning from setbacks and making decisions when the outcome is uncertain.
Gratitude and service
On Wednesday 4 November, Francisco Javier Guevara Rojas will explore gratitude and the value of serving others, connecting mental wellbeing with volunteering.
Francisco directs Fundación Gloria Kriete’s hospital project in El Salvador. His work includes the NAVES Hospitalarias playrooms at the Benjamín Bloom National Children’s Hospital. His session will invite participants to reflect on caring for themselves and others through their everyday actions.
Young people taking action
On Thursday 5 November, young participants from Fundación Gloria Kriete’s Oportunidades programme will share their experiences under the theme “You don’t have to wait for the future to transform your community”.
The discussion will explore what motivated them to act, how they developed their ideas and what they learnt along the way. Participants will hear how other young people identify opportunities, work with the resources available and encourage others to get involved.
Learning through experience
The forum reflects Aflatoun’s Social and Financial Education approach, which connects practical decisions about resources with life skills and social participation.
Across the three sessions, participants will explore how people respond to challenges, make choices and take responsibility for their actions. The conversations will give young people opportunities to connect these experiences with their own goals and circumstances.
How to participate
Aflatalks 2026 will take place virtually via Zoom. Registration is open to young people aged 15 to 20 who are part of Aflatoun partner organisations in Latin America and the Caribbean. Teachers and facilitators can also register to participate with their young people.
