Aflatoun International is pleased to welcome Rowya for Learning and Communities Development as a new partner in its Middle East and North Africa (MENA) network.
The partnership was formalised through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU), creating a foundation for collaboration in Sudan and across the wider region.
Founded in 2013 and officially registered as a non-governmental organisation in 2017, Rowya brings extensive experience in community development, human rights promotion, peacebuilding, vocational education and women’s empowerment.
Locally rooted experience
Rowya works with women’s and youth organisations to help communities respond to social, economic and environmental challenges.
Through learning, capacity building and networking, the organisation has contributed to raising awareness of gender and development issues, addressing harmful practices, promoting vocational training and strengthening participation in peacebuilding and rights-based initiatives.
The Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund has also highlighted Rowya’s work to strengthen women’s leadership and participation in peace processes in Sudan.
This locally rooted knowledge and experience will bring valuable perspectives to the Aflatoun partner network.
New opportunities for collaboration
The MoU creates opportunities for Aflatoun International and Rowya to explore how social and financial education can support children and young people in Sudan.
Aflatoun works through local partners because they understand the needs, strengths and realities of their communities. Rowya’s experience and trusted relationships can help ensure that future initiatives are locally relevant and responsive.
The partnership will also allow Rowya to exchange knowledge with organisations across the MENA region and contribute to regional learning on education, youth participation and community development.
