Children will open the Amsterdam Stock Exchange on March 25 Aflatoun Day

Monday 25 March is Aflatoun Day. For the 9th time, children and young people worldwide will celebrate the importance of financial and social skills for all. Aflatoun Day kicks off at the start of this year’s Global Money Week (25-31 March) and the Dutch money week, ‘Week van het geld’ (25-29 March).

The celebration forms an excellent opportunity to highlight the key founding ideals of Aflatoun in the importance of financial education. On Aflatoun Day we will connect with children across the world to participate in a conversation about money and financial independence.

Through Aflatoun’s programmes children and young people learn about their rights and responsibilities, how to save and plan for their future. They are encouraged to start their own enterprises and create positive change in their own lives and their communities.

“All over the world we see children getting into financial difficulties, also in the Netherlands. Aflatoun believe it is essential children receive high-quality financial education, providing them with the necessary skills to create a sustainable future for themselves and their communities. On Aflatoun Day, we celebrate how powerful this can be, together with our partners in more than 100 countries”, said Aflatoun International CEO Roeland Monasch.

Aflatoun Day and the Global Money Week will be launched at the Amsterdam Stock Exchange. Children and youth from the programmes will ring the opening bell together with Aflatoun Board Member Joanne Kellermann. Aflatoun will be in touch with children all over the world during the rest of the day. Through conference calls, children all over the world will be able to discuss their path to financial independence and how different Aflatoun programmes helped them get there.
