Cryptocurrencies & Blockchain Technologies for Beginners

In a rapidly changing and increasingly digitized economy, digital financial literacy is key for young people yet youth’s knowledge remains low with limited access to educative informative materials on the topic. Furthermore, most of the young beneficiaries are still completely unfamiliar with blockchain and cryptocurrency, as well as the opportunities and challenges these technologies bring with them. It is therefore important that young people are well informed on this topic, which has become increasingly popular and central within the financial world.

With the financial support and technical supervision of Orca Foundation (Zagreus), Aflatoun International developed and piloted the new financial literacy programme on “Crypto & Blockchain Technologies for Beginners” targeting adolescents and young people (age 13-18+) on the crux of making personal financial decisions in a modern financial system.

Programme Introduction

The new “Cryptocurrencies and Blockchain Technologies For Beginners” curriculum aims to equip learners with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to safely understand and engage with Cryptocurrencies and the Blockchain. The content does not aim to encourage learners to use or engage in crypto investments. Instead, the programme introduces basic knowledge and key notions about cryptocurrency and the blockchain technologies as part of the modern financial system to allow for improved and informed decision-making by young people in real-world applications.

Programme Objectives

Grasp the basic knowledge about cryptocurrency as a part of the future of finance.

Easily explain the benefits of blockchain technologies and advantages of crypto currencies.

Be able to safeguard themselves from the risks of crypto-currencies and make better informed decisions.
