Aflateen+ is a powerful education programme designed to transform the lives of girls and boys aged 14-19, containing life skills, financial education and entrepreneurship through a gender lens. Compared to boys, girls often have limited opportunities to gain education, knowledge, resources, and skills to promote themselves in the economic sphere. In developing countries, many adolescent girls experience challenges in addressing education and health services and too often are victims of discrimination and violence.
Following Aflateen’s success in empowering young people, its conceptual framework has been expanded to emphasise the connection between gender equality and economic prosperity. Education, as ever, offers the key to reform societal and economic norms and to broaden the horizons of children and young people we seek to empower worldwide.
