Aflatoun International is pleased to announce that Joanne Kellermann has been appointed as the new chair of the board. Joanne has been a long-term supporter of Aflatoun, and she joined the supervisory board almost three years ago as the vice chair.
Joanne has had a long career in finance, including as a director at the Central Bank of the Netherlands, where she played an instrumental role in introducing Aflatoun not only to the Dutch Central Bank but also to the global network of central banks. After serving as a board member of the EU Single Resolution Board, she is currently the chair of PFZW, the second-largest pension fund in the Netherlands, chair of the supervisory board of the University of Utrecht and of the public sector bank NWB Bank NV. She succeeds the role from Rob Becker, who has served as a board member at Aflatoun International since the organisation’s inception in 2005.
“We are all sad that the time has come for Rob leave the board. As our chair, he has led Aflatoun with vision, drive and with his energetic charm. Under his leadership, the movement has blossomed into maturity. We are very grateful for Rob’s enormous contribution to everything we have achieved in the past 16 years and we are happy that he will stay part of the Aflatoun family,” Joanne said.
Rob Becker has decided to step down after 16 years of board membership, serving the last 7 as the chair. “I am delighted that with Joanne we have an excellent successor. As the vice chair, Joanne already has made a tremendous contribution to Aflatoun and I very much enjoyed working with her. Personally, I feel very honoured to have been part of the Aflatoun family for such a long time and am proud that the Aflatoun movement is stronger than ever with fantastic staff and great leadership from the CEO and Supervisory Board,” Rob said.
