The Abdullah Dzinamarira Foundation was created 3 years ago with the mission to support underprivileged and vulnerable children by ensuring their access to education and basic social support services.
The organisation focuses its efforts on six key areas to empower communities and drive positive change. In drug and substance abuse prevention, it conducts awareness campaigns to help young people make informed decisions and lead healthy lives. Through educational assistance, it provides resources and opportunities to ensure individuals can access quality education and achieve their full potential. Addressing gender-based violence, the organisation raises awareness through community outreach, workshops, and social media campaigns. In tackling climate change, it promotes the transition to renewable energy, sustainable land-use practices, tree gardening in schools, and education about the causes of climate change. On sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR), it advocates for policies that protect access to reproductive healthcare and comprehensive sexuality education. Finally, in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), AD Foundation runs behaviour change communication campaigns to encourage proper hygiene practices in schools and communities.
Our Partnership
In 2022, Abdullah Dzinamarira Foundation decided to become part of the Aflatoun partners network to include social and financial education in the programmes for youth and children in Zimbabwe.
Since then, they have been implementing the AflaTeen curriculum to promote social cohesion, cultural diversity and inclusion, empower individuals, foster critical thinking and problem-solving, support personal growth and development, address social issues and challenges, and encourage community engagement.
Trainings and AflaTeen Clubs launched across Zimbabwe
Remarkably, over the past two years, the team successfully conducted Training of Trainers sessions, equipping educators with the knowledge and skills to implement the AflaTeen Curriculum, which focuses on social and financial education for young people aged 13-16.
Through extensive outreach in the country, they educated schools and communities about the curriculum’s benefits, resulting in widespread implementation and enthousiasm. One standout achievement has been the establishment of AflaTeen clubs, where young participants actively apply the programme’s lessons. These clubs have empowered youth to develop essential skills such as financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and social accountability. The visible transformation in these young people highlights the profound impact of the organisation’s efforts to promote financial inclusion and empower the next generation.
Building on this success, the organisation is committed to expanding its reach and making a positive difference in the lives of even more young people.
