Ajialouna has been working to improve lives and support underprivileged communities in Lebanon since 1995. Their work focuses on empowering women and other groups facing complex challenges through social, health and educational support.
Ajialouna believes that social skills teach respect for diversity, communication and conflict resolution. For Lebanon, a country riddled with conflict, these skills become imperative. Financial skills and initiatives are very important to empower students and build optimism and confidence. In times of political uncertainty Ajialouna states that this can shield them from political extremism.

Our Partnership
Ajialouna joined the Aflatoun Network in 2022 and has since implemented the Aflatoun curriculum. In addition, they are using the Violence Prevention Supplement, Social Emotional Learning Supplement and the Community Engagement Supplement to complement the core curriculum. They are delivering social and financial education in the most polarised underserved areas.
Success Story
Ajialouna reported,
“A 9-year-old child who had a picture of himself holding guns on his social media profiles deleted his posts and replaced them with a photo from his days in Aflatoun. Aggressive, disruptive children began following rules and discussing their problems instead of acting out. The projects and teamwork the older pupils demonstrated in PMIEF were also very heartening and a great success story for us.
We have added to the programme an Afla football and Afla Mothers’ programme based on the Aflatoun concepts and interactive teaching methods. We are implementing them for the first time this year. We still need to work on Afla teachers, as the training of trainers is not sufficient in truly aggressive environments. We are also developing Afla street games. We are essentially taking the Aflatoun concepts into a holistic approach to effect real change in the child and the environment in which they are growing.”
