ChildFund protects children’s well-being by strengthening relationships between children, parents, teachers and their wider community. This improves children’s lives, enabling them to dream, achieve their potential and contribute to their communities. ChildFund has been working with children in Honduras since 1982.
ChildFund was the first organisation to take on the challenge of implementing the Aflatoun programme in Honduras. From the start, they promoted the Aflatoun methodology and worked together with several institutions. They also encouraged the formation of the Aflatoun Network in Honduras, consisting of various organisations of civil society and the private sector.
In 2009, they started implementing the Aflatoun programme as a pilot. The aim was to complement schools with a curriculum that strengthened the governments’ programme and established saving habits in boys and girls through social and financial education.
