Partner of the Week: Fundación Redentor, El Salvador

Fundación Redentor supports the development of children, adolescents and young adults in vulnerable economic and social circumstances in El Salvador. By creating a safe environment where young people can grow up, away from violence and criminality, they provide new chances to children and youth in difficult situations.

To achieve this mission, Fundación Redentor work on the comprehensive development of economically and socially vulnerable youth. They provide education, training and emotional support to young people at risk. Further, by supporting former prisoners with job placement and entrepreneurship trainings Fundación Redentor assists people in the process of social integration.

Our Partnership

Fundación Redentor joined the Aflatoun network in 2024 and are starting to use financial and social education on their path of fostering inclusion and sustainable development. In a context of economic and social vulnerability, they teach social and financial literacy skills to empower people to make responsible financial decisions, strengthen their employability skills and engage in sustainable entrepreneurship.

Social and Financial Education in Social Reintegration

As part of Fundación Redentor’s work for social reintegration they led a social and financial education workshop. A group of participants attended two training sessions focused on financial education and making smart economic decisions. During these sessions, participants reflected on their consumption habits and the importance of prioritising essential expenses over momentary desires. For many participants this was the first time understanding the difference between needs and wants and analysing their personal budgets which helped them identify consumption patterns and learned to calculate the real costs of their basic needs.

This workshop aimed to awaken the interests of the participants in seeking secure mechanisms to manage their finances, which is crucial in their social reintegration process. At the end of the workshops, participants expressed their commitment to apply this knowledge in their daily lives. The experience not only allowed them to develop financial skills, but also to reinforce their confidence in their ability to build a stable and sustainable future.
