THE NGO, Golden Fund for Development Association (GFDA), is on a mission to support child development, protect the environment, preserve ecological balance, and organise training, research activities, and implement projects in these areas. For 22 years, they have been dedicated to addressing key social and environmental challenges in Mongolia. They believe in collaborative partnerships and grassroots engagement to bring about meaningful change and inclusive growth.
GFDA’s main focus areas are:
Child Development: They implement educational and life skills programmes that empower children and youth with knowledge of social and financial literacy.
Environmental Protection: They actively engage in projects that promote environmental awareness, conservation, and ecological sustainability.
Community Education and Empowerment: They organise training sessions, workshops, and research initiatives to build local capacity and support sustainable development.
Sustainable Projects: Through community-based projects, they aim to promote long-term impact and improve the well-being of vulnerable populations.

Our Partnership
GFDA has been part of the Aflatoun network since 2010. Since then, we have been working together on our common vision to empower children and young people with essential life skills, particularly in social and financial education.
Through this partnership, GFDA utilises Aflatoun educational content, training, and support to localise and deliver impactful programmes to the communities they serve. By using the AflaTeen and AflaYouth curricula and collaborating on contextualisation, they have strengthened their capacity to reach more children and educators and ensure that their programmes are aligned with international standards while remaining culturally relevant.
Social and Financial Education is crucial in Mongolia because it equips children and young people with essential skills to navigate today’s complex world. Many young people in our communities face challenges such as limited access to quality education, economic uncertainty, and social changes. By learning about their rights, responsibilities, and financial management from an early age, children gain confidence and become empowered to make informed decisions that positively impact their lives and communities. This education fosters responsible citizenship, promotes savings and entrepreneurship, and helps reduce vulnerability to financial risks. In a rapidly developing country like Mongolia, Social and Financial Education lays the foundation for sustainable growth, poverty reduction, and the overall well-being of individuals and society.

Success Story Anecdote
We are proud of our successful implementation of the Aflatoun Social and Financial Education programmes across several regions in Mongolia, reaching hundreds of children and young people. One key initiative is our integration of the Aflateen and AflaYouth curricula into both formal school settings and community-based programmes. Through this initiative, we have empowered young people with practical skills in financial literacy, social responsibility, and entrepreneurship, enabling them to make informed decisions and actively participate in their communities. The positive feedback from educators, parents, and the children themselves confirms the impact of our work.
This initiative not only builds individual capacity but also contributes to the broader goal of sustainable development and poverty alleviation in Mongolia.
