Partner of the Week: Masvingo Association of Residential Care Facilities Trust (MARCFT), Zimbabwe

For the past 10 years, Masvingo Association of Residential Care Facilities Trust (MARCFT) has worked towards child welfare in Zimbabwe. MARCFT plays a pivotal role in improving the standards of residential child care facilities, children’s homes, schools for children with disabilities, foster homes, and old people’s homes across the Masvingo and Midlands Provinces.

MARCFT is dedicated to promoting holistic child care and producing responsible citizens through networking, capacity strengthening, resource mobilisation, and advocacy. Established in 2015, the association was founded to enhance the operations of children’s homes and foster a safer and more nurturing environment for vulnerable children.

Our Partnership

Recognising the value of financial literacy, MARCFT embraced the partnership with Aflatoun in 2021 to enrich its youth programmes. Through this collaboration, the organisation promotes financial literacy skills, including:

  • Saving and Investment: Encouraging responsible money management from an early age.
  • Budgeting: Teaching financial planning to enable informed spending decisions.
  • Critical Financial Thinking: Equipping children with problem-solving skills essential for financial independence.

By teaching these values, MARCFT ensures that residential care facilities cultivate a responsible financial decision-making culture, empowering young individuals to make sustainable financial choices.

Empowering Young Women with Hearing Impairments

One of MARCFT’s most impactful initiatives has been training young women with hearing impairments in Social and Financial Education. This programme aims to reduce vulnerability and destitution by fostering sustainable entrepreneurship, enabling participants to achieve financial independence and a brighter future.
