Partner of the Week: Palestinian Initiative for Supporting Students (ESNAD)

Since 2013, the Palestinian Initiative for Supporting Students (ESNAD) has been working towards empowering Palestinian youth and activating their roles in society, through establishing a community movement that encourages positive participation of youth. ESNAD creates innovative educational programmes that promote the culture of civil participation and voluntary work between youth.

On their mission to help poor, underprivileged youth to build their own future’s life, ESNAD focusses on 2 main components, education and youth empowerment. They believe these two segments can help youth in becoming more aware of their value and dignity and help them in developing themselves.

The idea of the Palestinian Initiative for Supporting Students initially emerged from “From Student to Student” initiative, which aims to help university students suffering from bad financial situations complete their educational journey. In addition, promoting the concept of giving to others and volunteerism through volunteering with school students coming from underprivileged backgrounds.

The initiative was able to build relations with the private sector both inside and outside of Palestine and has won many international awards, such as: Ashoka Award for Social Creativity, Synergos Award for Social Entrepreneurship, and the idea of the initiative also qualified to the semi-finals of King Abdullah Award for Excellence and Youth Creativity. The programme was able to provide 420 university students with a scholarship and 1680 school students.

Over the years ESNAD has launched many more programmes that emphasize both on education and youth empowerment. To read more about these initiatives click here.

Aflatoun International and ESNAD will start working together on implementing the Aflatoun and Aflateen curricula and train facilitators in the age range of 18-30 years beginning of 2019. These facilitators will then use their Aflatoun knowledge to educate and help younger school students (10-16 years old) to overcome their difficulties.
