Plan International is a non-profit and independent organisation, whose purpose is to promote children’s rights and gender equality.
Since 1994, Plan International has been working in Nicaragua in 5 Departments in the Pacific (Chontales, Boaco, Madriz, Chinandega and Managua) and the Autonomous Region of the Northern Caribbean of Nicaragua.
The mission of the organisation is to facilitate the empowerment of children, adolescent women and young people, to promote gender equality and to include people in the exercise of their human rights. In order to ensure this mission, Plan International Nicaragua works with communities and families to influence a change in socio-cultural patterns in terms of rights, gender, prevention of violence, teenage pregnancy and resilience to the effects of climate change.
