SCEFA, an NGO in Sudan, works to promote all aspects of quality education, especially to broaden and upgrade cooperation. They see children as vital agents of change in their communities, who are empowered to act if they are given the right tools and opportunities.
After fruitful discussions with the Sudanese Ministry of Education, in partnership with Plan International Sudan, SCEFA began implementing Aflatoun’s programmes in 2009. Since then, Aflatoun International has been able to expand its reach to several states in order to target more schools, train teachers and educational actors, providing a more inclusive and improved quality of education. These states include: Kassala, Revier Atbara, Guli, Eddwueim, Alalaga and North Kordofan States.
SCEFA works with its partners to implement Aflatoun’s child-centred learning methods and approaches in all of their projects. Aflatoun’s teaching method encourages children to discover their role in society and to explore their capabilities to make change they would like to see in their communities. More than 3,000 vulnerable children have benefited from SCEFA’s social and financial activities that are cultural, sportive and social in nature in more than 57 Aflatoun Saving Clubs.
